ART OF THE 8 LIMBS

Muay Thai is the national sport of Thailand, and an ancient Thai martial art that dates back over 1000 years to an age when Thai warriors used it to defend their country from Burmese invaders. It is referred to as “The Art of Eight Limbs” using the eight points of contact of the body to mimic weapons of war. Thai boxing has been used for centuries to build strength, endurance, power of concentration, and discipline.

Capital Muay Thai offers world-class Muay Thai training for children, teens, and adults of all skill levels, in the heart of the Adirondacks High Peaks Region

Students learn the 8 points of contact that make up the foundation of Muay Thai, and develop skills working on the bag, with Thai pads, and in partner drills to refine their technique.

A typical Youth Muay Thai class includes warm-up exercises, stretching, jumping rope, bag work, and partner training drills. Students practice partner drills to develop coordination, strength, and agility.

Students are introduced to the fundamental techniques and concepts of Kali, the Filipino martial art focusing on self-defense, weapons training, and empty-hand combat.
